This is the third book in the Mirror Visitor quartet. Originally written in French, this edition is translated by Hildegarde Serle. It has been just over two and a half years since the events of the second book, The Missing of Clairdelune.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, so I had high hopes for this instalment. While I did enjoy it overall, I didn’t love it as much as I hoped. I found it to be quite slow and I just wasn’t very invested in the new story-line involving the apprenticeship with the Good Family. It dragged a little quite a few times, especially in the first half or so. It did pick up in the second half but by then I just couldn’t get fully invested.

I do love the world that Dabos has created in this series. The idea of floating Arks and family spirits is a really intriguing and unique one, so I enjoyed seeing more of the world in this instalment. The characters continue to be well written, if a little frustrating at times. The love interest in particular started to grate on me a little. I can’t comment on the translation since I don’t speak French, but from what I can tell it is another well written instalment.

Overall this instalment was a little disappointing but I will be checking out the fourth book to see how things are going to be wrapped up. Have you guys read this book? I’d love to know what you thought. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
