Hi guys, today I thought I would share 25 bookish facts about me. I have to admit I was feeling a little uninspired recently, so this seemed like a good post to do. It’s actually my birthday today, as a added fact about me :), although it’s not a bookish fact. On that note if you have any requests for posts, do let me know :). Let’s get started.
-
Although I think I prefer the aesthetics of hardbacks, overall I prefer paperbacks
-
I hate broken spines
-
I am quite a fast reader… I think
-
My favourite genre is fantasy (surprise) but I also love sci-fi, historical fiction and classics
-
I didn’t love reading until I was in my mid teens, as I am dyslexic
-
I find it hard to leave a book shop without buying something π
-
My most cherishedΒ book is my paperback edition ofΒ Watership DownΒ by Richard Adams as it was my mums before I nicked it π
-
I would love to have my own library when I am older
-
I don’t like people on book covers… I’m just not a fan
-
When I’m feeling down, I turn to buying books to cheer me up… which probably isn’t a very good thing π
-
I didn’t read the Harry Potter series until I was in my mid teens
-
SabrielΒ by Garth Nix is the book that got me into fantasy and reading as a whole
-
I mostly read on the sofa or in bed
-
I rarely lend out my books because I don’t want people to ruin them
-
Although I definitely prefer physical books, my kindle is so useful. Especially when I’m away from my books
-
I prefer to read the book before seeing the movie, but sometimes it works out the other way around
-
I don’t like to, but I do judge books based on there covers
-
Generally I read one book at a time, but I can read two at the same time
-
I love reorganising my bookshelves
-
I almost always read before bed
-
I don’t mind mass market paperbacks
-
Floppy paperbacks are just the best thing
-
I’m not a big user/fan of audio books… I just haven’t really listened to any
-
I always have background noise when I read
-
My goodreads reading goal for this year is 100 books
There you have it π 25 bookish facts about me. I actually had a tricky time coming up with some of these but I made it in the end. I always feel a little awkward talking about myself… I’m not that interesting really and I don’t know if anyone actually cares, but hey I’m doing it anyway. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
Pippa
That was actually very interesting!
I can agree with a lot of those things – even your taste in books, although I am slightly more sci-fi than fantasy, given a choice.
I also don’t like people on covers, I guess because you have your own image of what the hero or heroine looks like.
I had forgotten Garth Nix’s Sabriel books. I enjoyed the first three, very imaginative. But I see now there was another added in 2014…
Keep up the good blogging π

Yeah there’s a prequel book, Clariel, and a sequel, Goldenhand, which came out last year – both are great! Thank you π

Well it could be going better but I live in hope that I can still achieve it π Goodreads tells me I’m 2 books behind schedule at the moment.

Audiobooks don’t work for me either. And there really is nothing better than a floppy paperback.

Ooooh we have quite a lot in common! I looove reorganising my bookshelves too – whenever I have a large book haul, I get so excited about rearranging everything to fit!

I also don’t like to lend my books out. I just don’t trust most people I know to cherish them as deeply as I do, or return them in a timely manner. Also when I take someone’s book to add it to my collection, I call it adopting. π
Also also! I’m not a big fan of audiobooks, but if you like Neil Gaiman, he narrates his own stuff which is great AAAANNNNDDD Tim Curry does an utterly fantastic reading of the Abhorsen trilogy and I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you only ever give one audiobook set your time, make it that one. I still don’t listen to many since that one, but I want to listen to it again soon.

Ooh OK that’s good to know! I love the Abhorsen trilogy so that definitely sounds like something I’ll enjoy. Thanks for the recommendation! π
