How I Blog

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. Today I thought I would share some insight into how I blog. I don’t know if anyone is interested but I thought I’d do it anyway :). Basically I am going to talk about my blogging routine, things I use etc. I figured it was a pretty good time to do something like this as I’ve been blogging for over a year now. Having said that, I am by no means an expert and I think I still have things to learn/develop. So if you guys have any ideas for improvement or any requests of posts then please let me know!


So I’m the type that likes to be organised – it’s how I’ve always been, I think. I will never be able to write up an essay or blog post on short notice. To be at my best I need to be able to take my time, that is just how I am. Consequently I like to schedule my posts in advance. There are some that I may have to be a bit more flexible on, but generally I like to have things done in advance. Even if it’s just a completed draft sitting in my draft file, if that makes sense. I like to have some reviews sitting in drafts, just in case I need them as I like to take plenty of time to write them. Obviously this won’t work for everyone, so you’ll just have to find what works for you. I also like to provide a link for each book mentioned to my affiliate Wordery link – just in case anyone wants to purchase them. It’s a great way of supporting me, if you so wish (no pressure though). In terms of my camera, I either use my Nikon D3100 or my new Nikon Coolpix A900. To be honest I only use the editing stuff in the photo gallery of my laptop, but I want to up my photo taking so if you have any suggestions for improvement or a great photo editor then please let me know. I tend to brighten and sharpen each photo, as well as any cropping that’s needed. Once a post is published I’ll share it on my social media platforms. I always share it on twitter, at least a couple of times on the day I post it and then I’ll share it a few more times later on if I remember :). Sometimes I share it on Instagram as well but I need to do it with more regularity. Other places I share my posts include Bloglovin and Google+.  To be honest, I’m not great at publicising myself or this blog – I just don’t like to put myself out there but you kind of have it. It’s something that I need to work on with my blog. I love getting comments on my blog, so I try to respond to them as soon as I can. If I don’t than I apologise – some comments randomly get put in my spam box so I may not see them until a bit later.
I organise everything blog related in my bullet journal, as I like to have it all in one place. I have pages dedicated to a stats tracker, my blogs schedule, post ideas etc. Everything that may help me with my blog. As I’ve said I like to be organise so I like to have an idea of what I am going to be posting in advance. I tend to try and have an idea of most of the posts I want to share in a month before the month has started. So although we are in May right now, I am currently thinking about what I want to post in June. That’s just how I work. A monthly spread works really well for me as it means I can have what I plan for an entire month in one place.


That’s how I blog. I am sure I have a lot of room for improvement but I find that this works for me and I am happy with where things are now. I don’t know if this is the most efficient or best way to do it but it’s just the way I’ve started to do it. I still can’t quite believe it’s been over a year now but I’m excited to see how things will progress in the next year :). I am so thankful to everyone that supports my blog! 10 Things You May Not Know About Me

Hi guys how are you all? I hope you are all well. I wasn’t sure what to post today, so I thought I would introduce myself a bit more. I don’t know if you’re interested but just in case here I am :). Today also marks the one year anniversary of this blog! I can’t believe I have now been doing this for a whole year. Since it has now been a year, I thought a get to know me post would be a good way for you to get to know me a little better. Anyway, I am going to stop rambling now and actually start this post.
  • I am dyslexic with elements of dyspraxia. I know I have mentioned this before but I thought I would quickly share how it effects me. It mainly affects my processing speeds – it takes my brain longer to process information. Another interesting way affects me is that my handwriting is noticeably slower to my peers, because it takes longer for the information to go from my brain to the paper. I was told when I was eight that I had this learning difficulty.
  • I am very much a home body – I am happiest when I am at home. I much prefer staying in then going out, as I am not a party/clubbing person (I hate loud noises and crowds). The best time is just having a nice, chilled evening in with a fire going and a book or a film :).
  • I don’t have a lot of allergies but I am allergic to sawdust – I get a bad rash when my skin is exposed to it. Other than that, I don’t have any allergies that I know of.
  • If I could choose a superpower, I would choose to have healing powers. I have always loved the idea of having the ability of heal people and so if I could have a power it would definitely be that. My second choice would probably be telekinesis or control over earth :).
  • I am quite a quiet and softly spoken person, but once I get to know you I can be pretty talkative.
  • I love watching films but I don’t like horror films. I enjoy animations, action and adventure, thrillers, comedy, rom-coms etc. There are quite a few films release I am excited for this year.
  • My favourite subject at school was history. I enjoyed studying the history of medicine and I found Nazi Germany to be a fascinating time period. I haven’t read a lot of history books recently so I hope to read more this year. My least favourite time period I studied at school would probably be the Tudor period but it was still interesting.
  • Although I was in three sports teams in my primary school, I am not a sporty person. I kind of wish I was because then I would want to do it but I am really not. I do like swimming though.
  • I have never broken a bone *touches wood :)* but I did sprain my ankle in primary school.
  • I have no idea what I am doing with my life and that kind of scares me. I would love to have this blog as my blog but that is unlikely. I am currently thinking about working with animals as I am a huge animal lover and have worked in a rescue centre… It is just so hard to know.

Thank you – blogging for a year!

Hi guys, how are you? I hope you are all well. This post is going to be a little different. On this day (the 15th) last year I published my first ever post on this blog. So I am taking this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who visits, comments and follows my blog. I can’t quite believe that I have been doing this for a year now – it doesn’t seem like it has been that long. In the back of my mind I had always thought I wouldn’t last long. My low self esteem would get to me and I would stop but I’ve kept with it for a year now. I am so happy that I have got here. Not only I am doing something here that I enjoy doing but I have meet some really lovely people as well. It has also been a great way for me to challenge myself and put myself out there abit more. To be entirely honest I am still not great at putting myself out there but baby steps right? 🙂 Anyway I’m getting a bit off topic… I just can’t quite believe it’s been a year. I am sorry this is probably going to be a bit of a short post but I don’t want to ramble too much.


Once again thank you so much to everyone who supports this – it means the world to me. I can’t believe that in the year I’ve been doing this over 200 people have started following my blog! That just amazes me. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to the next year of blogging and seeing where it takes me. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.





Bookish Shoutouts Part 3

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. I thought it was time for another bookish shout-outs post. There are so many great content creators out there, I think it’s good to share some love. I have already written two very similar posts – part 1. As with the other posts, I am sharing some of my favourite accounts from different platforms – booktube, book blog and bookstagram.   • Lorna @ suddenlylorna -Lorna has great bookish content on her channel, including reviews and book hauls.  She reads a wide range of books and does really great, thoughtful reviews.
  • Catriona @ Catriona Reads – A Scottish booktuber, who again creates a wide range of content. I always enjoy watching her videos and love her enthusiasm.
  • Britt @ Britt Reads – Britt is a Dutch booktuber, who I have been watching for quite some time. She creates great quality videos, including wrap ups, tags and book hauls.
  • Jen @ Jen Campbell – Jen has such a wonderful channel and she seems so lovely. She reads a wide range of books – some of which I wouldn’t necessarily pick up and I like that through her channel I am expanding my taste in books. I also love her series Fairytales with Jen.

Time To Talk

Hi guys, I hope you are well. We are going to be talking about something close to my heart. Time to change have created a new campaign and set aside Thursday 2nd as Time To Talk day – if you didn’t already guess today is that day. I have mentioned in the past my struggles with mental health and I know first hand the importance of talking. I know it seems so simple but it is also extremely hard, especially when you are in a dark time. I am here today to encourage everyone to talk about mental health. Whether you have knowledge of the subject or if you know nothing, let’s just talk about. It is so important for people struggling to feel able to talk about their mental health. Without sounding dramatic because this is not a pity party, but it is hard dealing with mental health issues. So let’s all support each other and talk openly about our experiences so we all know that we are not alone. Feeling as if you are alone and feeling like you have no one to talk to is a horrible thing to experience, so let’s create an environment where we are open and able to talk freely. I am struggling right now, like so many others in the world. I know that this storm will not last forever, and I am taking steps to get better. So remember that you are not alone and that your storm will not last forever. I’ll start the conversation by introducing myself a bit, for any new people here. I’m Pippa – a 22 year who struggles with low self esteem, low moods, anxiety and self harm. I kept silent for 6 years before I finally broke down to my family and I can easily say that is the best thing to happen to me. Now I am able to talk about it. Yes there is still an element of feeling shame but I don’t let that stop me. I think it is so important to talk about it and feel you can be open about your mental health without judgement. I am sorry if this is all over the place but I wanted to post it anyway. It’s time to talk!

My Bullet Journal

Hi guys, how are you all? So I decided to try out a bullet journal this year and I thought I’d share it with you guys. If you saw my favourites post last month you would have seen some of it. I did start in a moleskine notebook, but I kept making mistakes and I’m a little bit of a perfectionist so I started out new in a leuchtturm notebook. Now I do it my own way – there are sections that I haven’t included in mine, but I like that you can make your bullet journal your own way. I don’t have daily spreads as I don’t feel I need them at the moment and I do the monthly spread a little differently. I am mainly using this as a way to keep my blog organised but there is a few life things in there as well. I am new to this so I don’t really know what I’m doing :). I have really enjoyed putting this together though. I hope the format of this post works out alright – I’m basically going to be taking a load of pictures of my journal :). Let’s get started.


As I mentioned I originally started using a moleskine notebook, but I moved onto a leuchtturm 1917 notebook in this really nice navy colour. I’m pretty glad I did as I am much happier with how this one worked out. I am new to this though, so I’m still working things out.
Obviously the first thing you see is the index page, but the first two pages I made were my 2017 resolutions and my year at a glance pages. The resolutions are mainly about my blog and my reading challenge for 2017, but I also have a couple of life goals as well. The year at a glance is pretty much a reference page, as I have marked any holidays, birthdays etc – birthdays in blue and holidays in turquoise.  I thought it might be quite a useful page to have.


Next page is my stats tracker. This is going to be keeping track of my growth for both my blog and my social media platforms. I am interested to see how things change over the coming year, especially with my blog as I am so happy with it’s growth so far. As you can see I have the months down the left side and all of my platforms along the top of the page – the platforms include blog followers, visitors, views, twitter, instagram etc. The next spread (pictured below) is a pretty self explanatory one – it is all of my blog post ideas. I like having all of these in one place so I can refer back to it when necessary. I have put some washi tape along the top of the page to show that these pages are blog related.


Next up we have a post tracker for both my blog and my youtube channel. Now I am pretty inactive on my youtube channel, but one of my goals for this year is to try out making some videos. I want to keep track of when I am posting, especially with my blog as I am more consistent with that. I will shade in the days that I have posted – making it easy to see and refer to. After that I have a page to keep track of my goodreads challenge (pictured below). I am keeping my challenge at 100 books and I will shade in these boxes as I go. There is also a place for me to note when I finished the challenge and to note down my favourites throughout the year. On the opposite page I just have a doodle I did.
As you can probably tell we are now onto my monthly spreads. I much prefer having it set up like this so I can see everything easily. This is used for any blog scheduling, whether it’s the content I am posting or a book review deadline. On the next spread I have a space to write down my posts, videos and tbr for the month, as well as a possible schedule for my instagram account. I have to admit I’m feeling a little uninspired with bookstagram right now, so don’t expect purely bookish photos. Anyway I think this is a great way to keep organised throughout the month. After this, I have the rest of my monthly spreads. I didn’t take pictures though, as they are exactly the same as the January spreads. You can see in the right hand corner there is some washi tape to mark this page as a monthly spread.



The next spread I have is all about my TBR books. I am hoping by the end of the year I will have read most, if not all, of these books but I thought this would be a good way to keep track of my owned unread books. I have very little self control when it comes to buying books so I hope this year I will be able to reading the books I have before buying more. As you can see from the picture below I also have a few pages dedicated to my anticipated releases of 2017 – mainly books but also some films.


Next I have a page to write down things I’ve been loving recently as I am thinking of doing some favourite post. After that I have a mental health tracker – as you can see in the picture I’ve divided each page into four sections with each sections representing a month of the year. This way I can note down how I’ve been feeling each month and what has possibly caused it. So I can easily see if there is anything that I can change to improve my mental health. There maybe a better way to do this but for now I will be trying out this setup. I might add in a habit tracker in this section for things like whether I am taking my medication, whether I am keeping hydrated and my tiredness level.


I know this has been a long post but we are get to the end now :). In a similar vein to the last spread I have a fitness tracker as the next spread. I am not a particularly active person but I know it is good for me – both physically and mentally, so I want to keep track of how active I am. This may also help motivate me to exercise, even if it is just walking the dogs. As you can see from the picture below I want to keep track of what new films I’ve seen this year. I am a big film fan so I am thinking of doing some film related post and I wanted to note down any new films I’ve seen in 2017.



Onto the last two spreads of my bullet journal – thank you for sticking with me :). I have a bucket list page where I can write anything I would like to do in the future, if it is ever possible. You can see below that I have different categories, from places I want to visit to things I want to learn. I don’t know if I’ll ever actually do these things but I thought it might be a nice spread to try to work towards. We’ll see if I ever accomplish them :). The penultimate page is for the big moments of 2017. I just wanted a place where I could note down any accomplishments, milestones etc, whether for my blog or in my life. The last page I currently have is all about self care. I have it to remind me about certain things if I am having a bad day. When we get caught up in a bad day it is sometimes hard to focus or remember anything else so I can always refer back to this page – that’s the theory anyway :).



There you have it – that is my bullet journal. I am also trying out a moleskine book journal, so I’ll let you guys know how I get on with that if you are interested. I have really enjoyed putting my bullet journal together and I am loving using it right now. I am still pretty new to it though. I like that you can make it your own and do what works best for you. It’s also been very good at testing my perfectionist tendencies as I have made quite a few mistake so I’ve had to resort to tip-ex :).  Have you guys tried out a bullet journal? What did you think?
