Hi guys, I hope you are all well. You may or may not know that I am a big fan of video games and I’ve completed a fair few over the last 12 months, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on them. This year I’ve really started branching out more so I’ve been enjoying finding new games to play. Anyway let’s get started.

Titanfall 2
Developer: Respawn Entertainment
Released: 2016
Genre: First person shooter
Console: Playstation 4
Titanfall 2 is a great first person shooter with an action packed single player campaign. I didn’t play any multiplayer but I really enjoyed the single player game and would definitely replay in the future.

Ori and the Blind Forest
Developer: Moon Studios
Released: 2015
Genre: Platform adventure Metriodvania
Console: Nintendo Switch
Ori and the Blind Forest is a visually stunning action platformer with great game design, a compelling story and fantastic art style. I died so many times playing this game and there are parts that are quite frustrating but overall I really enjoyed playing this one.

God of War
Developer: Santa Monica Studios
Released: 2018
Genre: Action adventure
Console: Playstation 4
Although this is the eighth instalment in the God of War series, this was the first GoW game that I’ve played. I loved the focus on Norse mythology and found that it was an accessible entry into the GoW world. The visuals were amazing and I really enjoyed the gameplay.

The Last of Us Part II
Developer: Naughty Dog
Released: 2020
Genre: Action adventure
Console: Playstation 4
The much anticipated sequel to the Last of Us, this game was a little mixed for me. The gameplay, itself, as amazing and the environments were incredibly well done – it is clear the amount of work that has gone into this game. Having said that, the storyline didn’t quite fully work for me. Here is a link to my full thoughts on this game.

Ghost of Tsushima
Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Released: 2020
Genre: Action adventure
Console: Playstation 4
Ghost of Tsushima is probably my favourite game of the year. This is another visually stunning game and I loved exploring the world. The story is a compelling one with interesting characters at its centre and great pacing. Basically I really enjoyed this game.

Spiritfarer
Developer: Thunder Lotus Games
Released: 2020
Genre: Indie management sim
Console: Nintendo Switch
Spiritfarer is a super chilled management game about death – you play as Stella, the new ferrymaster to the dead. This is a great game to just chill with. You can farm, mine, fish, cook etc, as well as befriend spirits before releasing them to the afterlife.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Developer: Moon Studios
Released: 2020
Genre: Platform adventure Metriodvania
Console: Nintendo Switch
Sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest, this was a fantastic second instalment to this world. I really enjoyed the new gameplay mechanics and loved being able to explore more of this world. Once again the art style is stunning and I thought the new storyline was well done. Just like with it’s predecessor, I died a lot in this game but still really enjoyed it.
That’s it for today. I think I played more video games this year then I ever have before – I’ve really started getting into checking out new games, instead of replaying favourites every so often. Do you guys play video games? If you do, what’s your favourites? Let’s chat in the comments. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.

I played Titanfall 2 a few years ago, picked it up really cheap, didn’t expect much, but I really enjoyed it, a fun game.
I’m playing Ghost of Tsushima at the moment and absolutely loving it.

Ori and the Blind Forest is such a visually stunning game. But I did break a controller against the damn frog boss, so mixed feelings…
