Hi guys, I hope you are all well. I have been playing way too much Animal Crossing: New Horizon so when I saw there was a book tag about the game I had to do it. This tag was created by Kristina at Books and Dachshunds. Let’s get straight into the questions.

Have fun!
♦ New Villagers – New-to-you author you’d wanna read soon
Well, first off a new to me author that I’m currently reading is Lisa Cassidy. Right now I’m reading the last book in the A Tale of Star and Shadow trilogy and I’m loving it – I’ve never read any of her books before but I’ll definitely be checking out more. New to me authors on my TBR include Nick Martell (A Kingdom of Liars), Helene Wecker (The Golem and the Djinni) and Richard Nell (Kings of Paradise).
♦ Dodo Airlines – Book that made you travel to other part(s) of the world
I’d say that most fantasy books allow you to travel to different worlds, but if we’re talking about different parts of Earth then I have fewer books to choose from. I don’t read alot of contemporary books set on Earth… The Book Thief transports the reader to Germany during WWII, the Montalbano series transport you to Sicily, the Shardlake series transport you to England during Henry VIII’s reign and the Li Du series transport you to China in the 1700s.
♦ Deserted Island – Pick 3 books you’d go on a deserted island with!
This is tough since I have so many favourites and I find it hard to narrow it down, but if I had to pick… probably His Dark Materials omnibus by Philip Pullman, the Pellinor series by Alison Croggon and the Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynne. I know I’m technically cheating because they are all series but hey I enjoy a good series :). This is also a fantasy edition of books to take to a deserted island since that is the genre I read the most. If I had to pick just three books then I would probably go with Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay, The Sword of Kaigen by M. L Wang and Fudoki by Kij Johnson.
♦ Nook Phone – Favourite book you’ve read as e-book or audio-book
I’ve had a kindle for years now so I’ve read a lot of e-books. I definitely prefer physical books but I do find my kindle really useful and I do use it quite a lot. I’m currently reading the last book in the A Tale of Stars and Shadow trilogy by Lisa Cassidy and loving it. Other books I’ve loved after reading as an e-book include the first two books in the Coraidic saga by Alicia Wanstall-Burke, the Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell, Theonite books by M. L. Wang and Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier.
♦ Toe beans – Your favorite pet/creature from a book
I love animal companions in books and am always more likely to pick up a book if it has one. My favourites include Storm from the Faithful and the Fallen series, the Disreputable Dog and Mogget from the Old Kingdom series, Nighteyes from the Realm of the Elderlings series and Leelan from The Beast Player. I would say daemons from His Dark Materials but since their representations of a persons soul I don’t know if they count.
♦ Evolution – The most memorable character growth
Once again I can’t just pick one – there are so many fantastic character arcs out there. Some of my favourites include Sorcha from Daughter of the Forest, Corban from the Faithful and the Fallen series, Vlora from the Powder Mage world, Tavi from the Codex Alera series and Maia from The Goblin Emperor.
That’s it for today. I’ll go back to playing more Animal Crossing now 🙂 – my island fruit is peach and my favourite villager is Flurry right now. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
Pippa
You (and lots of other people) seem a bit addicted to Animal Crossing! 😋
My favourite prompt here is the toe beans one, haha. TOE BEANS. 🥰 Also, I think choosing omnibus books is very smart for the deserted island prompt! Three books in one – totally allowed. 😄
