Hi guys, I hope you are all well. Today I wanted to talk about my favourite video games. I have been really getting into gaming recently so I wanted to share my enthusiasm with you guys. I wasn’t much a gamer when I was younger but I’ve definitely become more of one now. I know it sounds really silly but when I was younger I never thought I was good enough to play video games. Now I just put that out of my head and enjoy playing the game – it doesn’t matter if I’m good or not as long as I’m enjoying myself. These games are in no particular order. Anyway, let’s get started.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Developer: Grezzo
Published: Nintendo
Initial release: 1998 3DS release: 2011
Genre: Action adventure video game
Console: Nintendo 3DS
This was the first Zelda game I ever played. I didn’t play the original but the remastered version for the 3DS and I loved it. There were a few places that I got a bit stuck on but I really enjoyed playing this game and have replayed it a couple of time since.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Developed & Published: Nintendo
Release Date: 2017
Genre: Action adventure video game
Console: Nintendo Switch
I finally got Switch this year and I immediately got my hands on a copy of this game, since I had wanted to play it ever since it was released. While it is quite different to previous games in the franchise, it is fantastic game and I cannot wait for the sequel.

Horizon: Zero Dawn
Developer: Guerrilla Games
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Release Date: 2017
Genre: Action role playing video game
Console: PS4
This is such a good game. I loved the game-play and Aloy is a fantastic protagonist. I really hope we get a sequel to this one.

Tomb Raider
Developer: Crystal Dynamics
Publisher: Square Enix
Release date: 2013
Genre: Action adventure video game
Console: PS3
This is a reboot of previous Lara Croft games and is the first in a trilogy of games. While I enjoyed the other two games, the first game is definitely the best, in my opinion.

The Last of Us
Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release date: 2014
Genre: Action adventure survival horror video game
Console: PS4
I didn’t think I would ever play this game as I’m not a zombie fan and I don’t like horror, but I was persuaded by my sister to give it a go and it is a fantastic game. I found it pretty stressful to play, especially in a certain canteen, but I cannot wait for the sequel.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
Developer & Publisher: CD Projekt
Release date: 2015
Genre: Action role playing video game
Console: PS4
This one is actually being released on the Nintendo Switch this month, which makes me want to replay it.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release date: 2016
Genre: Action adventure video game
Console: PS4
I played most of Uncharted 3 but didn’t actually finish it so this is the first Uncharted game I completed. I have also completed Uncharted: the Lost Legacy.

Okami
Developer: Capcom
Publisher:
Release date: 2006
Genre: Action adventure video game
Console: PS2 & PS4
I originally played this on PS2, but I didn’t complete it until the PS4 edition. It’s such a unique game and I enjoyed playing every second of it.

Assassins Creed: Syndicate
Developer: Ubisoft Quebec
Publisher: Ubisoft
Release date: 2015
Genre: Action adventure game
Console: PS4
I can’t remember which AC game I played first but it might be this one. I really enjoyed that it was set in London and I loved Evie as the female protagonist. I also really enjoyed AC 2,Origins and Odyssey.

Pokemon: Soulsilver
Developer: Game Freak
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: 2010
Genre: Role playing video game
Console: Nintendo 3DS
I’ve played a lot of pokemon games in my time and this one remains my favourite. I have to admit that I’ve recently lost a bit of my love for this franchise. Each game is pretty similar to the last and I think I’m kind of past that now.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Developer: Intelligent Systems and Koei Tecmo Games
Publisher: Nintendo
Release date: 2019
Genre: Tactical role playing game
Console: Nintendo Switch
Finishing this list off with a new favourite of mine. I have been playing this game a lot over the last month or so and I’ve been loving it. I’ve never played a Fire Emblem game before but I definitely want to check out more.
Honourable mentions: Age of Empires II (PC strategy game), Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legecy (PS2 open world platform game), Spider Man (PS4 action adventure game), Astral Chain (Nintendo Switch action adventure hack and slash game) and Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (3DS action adventure game).
Currently playing: Octopath Traveler demo (Nintendo Switch – turn based role playing video game) and Hollow Knight (Nintendo Switch – Metroidvania video game). I don’t know if I will ever complete Hollow Knight though. It’s a pretty tricky game and I’ve had to put it down a few times due to my frustration levels.
Great post! Lately I’ve been enjoying Stardew Valley and also Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles

You have some very good picks here! I played Breath of the Wild and it was PHENOMENAL. Also, I just played Last of Us and the story was so compelling that I could not stop playing! I cannot wait for the sequel! If you like Last of Us I would suggest playing Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. It has a great story with a very eerie feel to it!
