Fantasy Recommendations

Hi guys, I hope you are all well. It’s been a while since I did my last fantasy recommendations post so that’s what I’m doing today. You guys should know by now that I read primarily fantasy, which means I have a lot of favourites to share with you all. On a side note, I have a page of past recommendations post in my bullet journal where I note down all the books I’ve talked about because otherwise I would definitely forget. Anyway, let’s get started.

Blood of Heirs / Alicia Wanstall-Burke

This is the first book in the Coraidic saga. It is a self published, dual perspective fantasy book set on the fictional continent of Coraidin. This is a character driven story and the author does a great job with their development. The world is also well written and I really enjoyed the story. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. Check out my full review here.

The Wolf / Leo Carew

This is the first book in the Under the Northern Sky series. Political intrigue and military elements play an important role in this fantastic first book in this series. I was hooked into the story early on and I can’t wait to see what happens next. The characters are all well written, however I did want a little more from the world building. The sequel, The Spider, is set to be released next month in the UK. Check out my full review here.

Age of Myth / Michael J. Sullivan

This is the first book in the Legends of the First Empire series. It is set in the same world as his other series but thousand of years before that timeline. I thought this book was a fantastic introduction to this series and I would highly recommend checking it out. It is quite traditional in terms of the fantasy genre but it does it very well. The plot is compelling, the characters are well written and it was great to explore more of this world.

Never Die / Rob J. Hayes

This is a self published fantasy standalone influenced by Japanese folklore. The first chapter of this book really gets you hooked in and it won’t let you go until the last page. The plot is a little formulaic but I still found it so enjoyable to read. We follow multiple characters and each of them is so well written. This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. Check out my full review here.

Green Rider / Kristen Britain

This is the first book in the Green Rider series. It follows a young girl called Karigan, who undertakes a mission after promising to deliver a dying man’s message. I really enjoyed this book; the characters are well written, the world is an interesting one and the plot was compelling throughout. I have to admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of the second book, although I did have better luck with the third book. I plan to continue with this series.
