It is that time of the week for another Top Ten Tuesday. It is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This weeks topic is the top ten best books of 2016, so basically you are choosing your favourite books out of the ones you read in 2016. Now I read over 100 books this year, so I have a lot of books to consider and of course I have some honourable mentions :). If you’ve been following this blog throughout the year most of these books probably won’t come as a surprise. As with other post I have linked each book to Wordery, as it is a great way to support my blog and get your hands on these books :). Onto my favourites!
-
War and Peace / Leo Tolstoy
-
Fudoki / Kij Johnson
-
Dune / Frank Herbert
-
Daughters of the Dragon / William Andrews
-
Emperor of the Eight Island / Lian Hearn
-
Goldenhand / Garth Nix
-
The Tiger and The Wolf / Adrian Tchaikovsky
-
The Song Rising / Samantha Shannon
-
In Order to Live / Yeonmi Park + The Girl with the Seven Names / Hyeonseo Lee
-
Fool’s Fate / Robin Hobb
I read Dune back in the early 90’s when I was in my early twenties. It blew me away at the time – I’ve often wondered if it would hold up all these years later.
And congrats on W&P – that deserves a medal. I hope to reread it one day too – my translation was rather clunky and I’d like to try again with a good one.

Yeah that’s always interesting – seeing if a book is good years later! Haha thanks I hope to read Anna Karenina in 2017! 🙂

Sadly, I haven’t read any of these books, but Dune is on my TBR. The Girl with Seven Names is also on my Want List. Hope 2017 is even better!

I’ve been meaning to pick up some Tolstoy but I just haven’t gotten around to it… do you think War and Peace is a good place to start?
Great list! 🙂

Yeah I think it’s a good place to start as it was my first time reading Tolstoy! It’s definitely a hefty one and I recommend putting aside time to read it! I hope to read Anna Karenina in 2017! Thank you!

Hey, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your blog in Opera, it looks fine but
when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, excellent
blog!
