Hello again, today I have a tag for you all. The one I am doing today was created by the lovely Kate over on her youtube channel, GirlReading – you can check out the original video here. I highly recommend her channel – she is one of my favourites. This tag requires you to answer the questions quickly without really thinking about your answer. So let’s get started.
E-Book or Physical Book?
Definitely physical book. I love the feel of a book in your hand and I just enjoy it so much better then e-books. Having said that I do love e-books for travelling because it makes it so much easier – I remember the days before e-readers where my bag would be mostly filled by books when I went on holiday.
Paperback or Hardback?
Although I think I prefer the aesthetics of hardbacks, I definitely prefer paperbacks as a whole. Maybe the fact that I have really small hands mean that paperbacks just suit me better :). I also own more paperbacks than hardbacks so that definitely suggests that I prefer paperbacks.
Online or In-Store Book Shopping?
I love in store book shopping, where you can just roam around the book shop and find books, so I think it would be my preference. However online is generally cheaper and you know for sure you are going to get the book you want, whereas it may not be in store. So online is maybe more convenient, but I do love in store book shopping. It is so good when you find a hidden gem in a book shop.
Trilogies or Series?
Probably trilogies but I do love series as well. I feel like some series can go on for too long though, and trilogies are generally a really good size for world building, character development etc.
Heroes or Villains?
Ah that is a tough one. I think I would pick villains, but this is a very close one.
A book you want everyone to read?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Recommend an underrated book?
Fudoki by Kij Johnson – is anyone surprised? 🙂
The last book you finished?
Villette by Charlotte Bronte.
The Last Book You Bought?
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie and Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater.
Weirdest Thing You’ve Used as a Bookmark?
Nothing comes to mind that is weird, sorry.
Used Books: Yes or No?
Yes – although I would only buy it if it was in good condition.
Top Three Favourite Genres?
Fantasy, sci-fi and classics.
Borrow or Buy?
Buying books, definitely. I love buying books, although I am on abit of a book buying ban at the moment. I have very little self control when it comes to buying books, but I’m sure I’m not alone in that right? 🙂
Characters or Plot?
This is another tough one but I think I would go with characters. I really enjoy very character driven books so characters are definitely an important element.
Long or Short Books?
Long books, although I do enjoy short books as well.
Long or Short Chapters?
Short chapters – I like to finish reading at the start of a new chapter so when it’s a long chapter I sometimes end up just wanting the chapter to end. Having said that I am not a big fan of very short chapters either.
Name The First Three Books You Think Of…
Sabriel by Garth Nix… North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell and The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan.
Books That Makes You Laugh or Cry?
To be honest I have never cried at a book and a book has never made me laugh out loud. If I had to choose though I would for sure pick a book that made me laugh.
Our World or Fictional Worlds?
Fictional world – I love the escapism of exploring all these new worlds that writers have created.
Audiobooks: Yes or No?
No. I used to listen to a cassette tape of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgeson Burnett when I was going to sleep, but apart from that I’ve never really seen the appeal.
Do You Ever Judge a Book by its Cover?
As bad as it is, I do. If I’m in a book shop browsing books, I am less likely to pick up a book to see what it is about if it has a bad/ugly cover. I am more likely to pick up a book if the cover attracts my attention.
Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?
Oh well I enjoy both but I think I would go with TV adaptations, although that is mainly thinking about classics. So maybe TV adaptations for classics and movies for everything else… Let’s just stick with TV adaptations 🙂
A Movie or TV-Show You Preferred to its Book?
The 100 TV show is a hundred times better than the books in my opinion.
Series or Standalone’s?
This one is definitely split 50/50 but if I had to choose I would probably go with series.
That was the Rapid Fire Book tag – please go check out Kate’s channel. She is lovely and her channel is great. Some of these questions were really quite tricky, but I really enjoyed doing this tag. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you next time.
